Leather Care 101: How to Make Your Kaieden Piece Last a Lifetime

A high-quality leather bag is like a fine wine; it should only improve with time. However, even the most resilient materials require some care. At kaieden, we want your bag to be a lifelong companion.

1. The Golden Rule of Storage:

Always store your Kaieden bag in its breathable cotton dust bag when not in use. Avoid using plastic bins, as leather needs to breathe to maintain its natural moisture levels. If it’s a structured bag, lightly stuff it with acid-free tissue paper to help it retain its shape.

2. Handling the Elements:

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you find yourself caught in a sudden downpour, don’t panic. Gently blot the water away with a soft, dry cloth and allow it to air dry naturally. Never use a hairdryer or heater, as extreme heat can cause the leather to crack.

3. Embrace the Patina:

Over the years, you may notice your bag darkening or developing a slight sheen. This is known as "patina." It isn’t a sign of wear; rather, it’s a badge of honour. It means the leather is responding to your life and becoming yours uniquely.
